SEPTIC TANK ART - PART 1

While I was volunteering at Bikini Hostel in Puerto Viejo in August 2019 I was offered the opportunity to paint some septic tanks.

This is one of two septic tanks I painted , because I painted the other septic tank in bold bright colours and a crazy pattern I decided to do a softer contrasting design. I choose to go with purple, green and blue and layer up in a gradient style.

There was already a wavy pattern painted previously in red over the bare stonework on one side so instead of completely painting it out I decided to incorporate it into the new colours and design and I think it works well.

I decided to paint this septic tank bold and in your face. Its vibrant and crazy and adds some punch to the overall appearance of the garden. it certainly beats it's previous plain dull grey colour.

Instead of looking like a septic tank it now looks like an art installation and gives the space a unique edge.

Paola the manager loves the way I painted the septic tanks, her favourite is the purple blue and green one.

Who doesn't love sea shells? When I was living in Puerto Viejo I found it hard not to pick sea shells when walking along the beach.

There were just too many pretty shells! Because I am striving to live as minimally as possible I decided to not accumulate any more sea shells so I put the shells I had collected that day into a glass bottle I found on the beach. I placed the bottle on a table in the hostel and added to the ambiance.

It's a simple yet effective way to add some interest to a table or other space. So simple yet so pretty! It's another way to reuse a glass bottle.
